What is car paint?
Deciding on the color of the car can be a daunting task for the car owner. There are literally more than 60,000 colors on the market. In fact, it is very easy to identify many of the colors you like.
All kinds of car paints
Car metallic paints are glossy paints made of finely metallic aluminum pigments. These metal pigments vary depending on the type of pigment used.
Combining these metallic pigments with a wide range of clear pigments will give you thousands of completely different colors of car paint. In terms of application, metal paints can be very simple or more challenging to use depending on the chosen color. Durability of metallic paints depending on the system used and its color is excellent. Metallic colors are often confused with metallic shell colors, which are very different types of bright colors.
Car pearl colors
Pearl paints are made with colored glazes and a combination of special colors called pearl pigments with traditional clear pigments.
Unlike metallic colors whose luster is based on a silver aluminum plate, pearls are available in a wide range of colors and luminosity sizes. Thus, it is said that pearl colors have more “color depth” than other colors. Pearl colors can have 2 stages:
The pearl base coat is applied, then removed, or a 3-step system in which the solid base coat is applied. Then a pearl retouch and a protective cover are added. Lighter pearl colors are more transparent than lighter shades of metallic. In fact, many light-colored pearls, such as white pearls, require a special undercoat to turn them into a true three-step color.
In contrast, darker and medium shades are suitable for 2-stage applications. But three-stage pearls are more challenging due to the clear nature of pearls. The durability of pearl finishes is generally comparable to metallic colors.
There are colors that do not contain shiny materials such as pearls or metallic. Black and white are the most popular examples of solid colors. But there are literally thousands of other identifiable shadows. Solid colors are usually easier to use than metals or pearls. Because there is no carbonated substance that worries about its conterminous path. Many of the most popular classic colors of all time fall into the category of solid colors. These paints are usually better than transparent base systems in terms of durability.
Candy colors have a unique color depth. These car colors give a unique look due to having a unique process to create an effect like real candy. These paints are made in a three-step process that uses a glowing radiant base and is finally protected with a glossy urethane. This process creates a bright color that appears to be a spark immersed in the color. Candy color is also known as wet color due to its deep luster. The durability of these paints is less than solid, pearl and metal samples.
Chameleon car paint (color change)
Color change colors have the ability to show different colors depending on the type and where they are seen. The most common types of colors are color changing (sunflower colors) that change color based on changing the angle of view. Often 3 to 5 colors are completely different from one visible color. These colors give the most impact to the watch and are really distinctive. Sunflower paints last longer than regular paints.
Custom colors versus factory colors
Car paints are divided into two categories: custom paints and factory paints. Factory paints are paints that are mass-produced in the production of commercial vehicles. But custom colors vary according to a wide range of tastes. These paints are not easier to make than factory paints.
There are more than 60,000 types of car paints that are used depending on taste and performance. The colors available in the market are usually in the following color categories:
